A question we often get asked by individuals outside the industry: what actually is a food stylist? In response to this, we thought who better to explain the role that is so vital to a food shoot production, than a food stylist herself.  On set with the talented Steffi Knowles-Dellner, she gave a brief explanation of what it means to professionally play with food.

Steffi describes her job as the ‘make-up artist of food’. Depending on the shoot, she will either have a large amount of creative input, or can simply be hired to provide the final touches to make the food look delicious.

Our stylists are required to work with a range of mediums, and they have a profound knowledge of textures, temperatures and tools. Stylists come equipped with scalpels, earbuds, pipettes and more, to make sure they can create whatever vision the client requires.  From burgers to ice-cream, the process is always challenging, and constantly demands creativity.

Check out  Style Department website for more of our stylists work.
